VH1/School of Rock Battle of the Bands Contest

Paramount Announces the VH1/School of Rock Battle of the Bands Contest.

To promote music education in both schools and at home, Paramount Home Entertainment, VH1 Save The Music and the American Music Conference (AMC) have banded together to develop a nationwide contest encouraging students to create and record their own original song. Celebrating the DVD release of "School of Rock" on March 2, the "VH1/School of Rock Battle of the Bands Contest" will enable middle and high school students aged from 13-19 to compete for the chance to have their original recording produced into a music video and aired by VH1.

It's a new reality TV series:

Rock Camp is based on a real-life summer camp run by the Conservatory Of Music In Halifax called Summer Rock, which teaches regular dudes and dudettes how to rock out with the best of ‘em.

Too bad it's only being shown in Canada on CBC.

Cast your Vote for Your Favorite Comedy Film of the Year

There are plenty of best film, best director and best actor awards, but only one best Comedy Film Honors, and they are given out at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival (USCAF) sponsored by HBO. 

Bass and humor lovers can vote online for their favorite comedy film of 2003, which will receive the Bass Audience Award at the Festival. One lucky contest entrant will also win an entertaining trip for two to the 10th Anniversary of the Festival, to be held in Aspen, CO, March 3-7.

Through February 13, 2004, comedy fans may visit www.bass.com or www.hbocomedyfestival.com and cast their vote for one of the five finalist films: Lost In Translation (Focus Features), A Mighty Wind  (Warner Bros.), Bad Santa (Miramax), School of Rock (Paramount) or American Splendor (HBO/Fine Line).

Lost in Translation was good, but School of Rock was way funnier.
