There's a big tent set up at The Larz Anderson Auto Museum, Brookline, MA for Bonham's Vintage New England, A Sale of Important Motorcars and Automobilia, tomorrow, Oct 4, 2008.

This is a 1931 Rolls Royce.

Note: I say Jamaica Plain but it's actually the next city, Brookline, MA

iPhone Add On for Live Streaming Video

Lots of people are interested in streaming live video using the iPhone. I rigged up this add on that works pretty well. :-)

Balloon Ride Over Boston

I took Carol for a balloon ride over Boston last night for her birthday.

Chris Prior from Aeroballoon gave us a free ride because of the video I made last year about not being able to take a ride because of the wind.

Their season ends on Tuesday September 12th. More video soon.

To Cambridge

This video blog post was inspired by Daniel Liss' First Map, Assignment One of his Seven Maps Project.

His assignment was:

WHAT: Make a video about journeys, transportation, dislocation, confusion. This one is all about departures and arrivals.

TECHNICAL RESTRICTION
: Tell the story out of order. No voice over, no overlaid text.
I shot this on the way to Cambridge this morning on a Canon S400.

I transcoded the .avi files from the camera into .mp4 prior to importing into FCP.

I edited it in Final Cut Pro. Music by Gary from Podsafe Music Network at Music.podshow.com.

Thoms Wedding 7/8/06

I shot this wedding with a Canon Digital Rebel XT, imported the photos into iPhoto, then exported them as a Quicktime move with dissolves.

This stuff is not hard.

Inspired by Adam Curry, I recorded this video while looking at my computer screen.

Thanks to New England podcasters Chris and John for tips on how to do this.

SnapZPro doesn't work on Intel yet, so I had to use a screengrab instead of capturing activity on the screen.

I dropped the screen cap into FCP, reduced the opacity of it to 47%, and added a mirror filter.

Then I captured the video off the iSight with QuickTime and imported that into FCP.

How do you capture live video with FCP? Can it be done?

July4Us: Bennington Flag

Download File

For July 4th I decided to try to shoot a movie with my still camera.

I used my Digital Rebel and set it to BURST mode. Then I took ninteen photos in a row and imported them into iPhoto. In iPhoto, I configured the settings to take these nineteen photos and make them into a movie with each photo displaying for one second.

Then I exported this movie to my desktop, and imported it into iMovie. In iMovie, I added the title and credits,.

Next I added the Aged Film effect. Then under Audio, I grabbed the Foley sound effect of an Antique Clock. I split this effect at each beat, and then dragged each beat to the point where the visual changed.

Next I exported as a QuickTime for iPod which automatically chose H.264 compression, 320x240, 30 fps.

After that was done, a quick upload to Hipcast and posting to the blog.

The Bennington Flag: Used in the Battle of Bennington, August 16, 1777, by Vermont militia. This flag is the first to lead American armed forces on land. The original is preserved in the museum at Bennington, Vermont.
