Life is Good Pumpkin Festival was held in Boston, MA on October 21, 2006.
They attempted to light 30,000 pumpkins on Boston Common. This event was held to draw national attention to Camp Sunshine, the renowned retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses, located in Casco, Maine
Update:
A new world record was set with over 29,000 pumpkins.

Steve, this is incredible! Every picture in this is amazing.
Keene, NH does an event very similar to this, and it's on of the most amazing things you've ever seen once they get all the pumpkins lit up at night.
If you don't mind me asking, what'd you use to create the ken burns effect?

Hi Eric,
I used iPhoto!
Making video is not that hard if you have the right tools.

What a great way to make a movie! I always forget about the iPhoto integration in iMovie, and I really hadn't figured out that effect either.
And your approach to just using pictures must have been pretty unobtrusive in the crowd. I imagine if people had seen you carrying a video camera they might have been shy. We're all pretty immune to small cameras by now.
Oh, and the video is super great! Can we all vote on it somewhere for you?
