Matthew Hincman Park Bench Interview

In this video I interview Matthew Hincman about his park bench installation at Jamaica Pond in Boston.

Flash Version of Matthew Hincman Park Bench Interview

I've been following the mystery of the bench since it appeared at the pond one day and then vanished.

It then reappeared and I got Matthew to tell us about it.

very nice one, steve, especially the comic! it looks so professional, i wonder if you may post a short description how you made the comic :)

another thing that bugs my mind for quite some time: how do you find the time and energy for your creative output? i mean, having an idea to do something is one thing, but actually doing it is a completely other.

thing is, when i come home from work at 6 or 7 in the evenings, my energy to do something i thought about over the day is almost every time completely gone.

again, good work!

Hi Tibor,
I made the comic using a Mac application called Comic Life. You pick a template, then import your photos from iPhoto and drop them into the squares, resizing if you like. Then you drag over talk baloons. Easy!

As for finding the time, I have lots of projects going on and just make time to do things that are important to me. Videoblogging is not a 9-5 job for me, it's my life.

I am a videoblogger first and foremost.

It's fun, so I am working on it from the time I wake up until I go to bed.

Every aspect of vlogging in enjoyable, from promoting, teaching, shooting, editing, and writing.

On this project I asked my friend David to shoot, and then I had somewhat of a deadline to get it done quickly for Rocketboom. When I don't have formal deadlines, I make artificial ones.

Like for Vlog Soup, I was taking too long between each one, so now I am trying to make them shorter and more frequent.

Thanks for you comment!

what you said about videoblogging motivates me to do something on my own again. again, thanks!

and as an additional comment it seems to be good for someones productivity to get up early! i mean, you postet your answer at 7 in the morning! :)

greetings from way too hot & humid germany,
tibor

Hey Steve-

Up to about 1 year ago, I used to live in JP, now it's Brooklyn. I am starting to experiment with video and after a few experiments will start posting my own work on the Brooklyn Kitchen website. Right now I just have some photographs there, but it should be fun to try new things. I will let you know when I do more. Thanks for being an inspiration.

-Jeff
