Wage Peace
Video 4:34
I came across this display yesterday on my way back from lunch. It was quite a moving installation.
Many people, like myself, just happened upon it.
A good number of people were photographing it with their camera phones. Capturing the moment.
I had my Canon S400 in my pocket, and made this video. It's a combination of video and still photos set to music, and the reading of the names of the 2,049 dead US soldiers.
One of the sadest parts of this experience was that on the way home I heard on the radio that the number of US Casualties had increased by five.
Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee's widely-acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a multimedia display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war.

There are many reason why people start wars in the world today. There are bad people who want to profit from war. Other want more power. Some others just are ruthlust like the leader of Irac. The line is it is always going to be arround no matter who is in power. I hate to say we just might have to live with war for just a little while longer

Another great power of the vlogs, it shows images the "corporations" won't, or simple don;t want to.
Sad... sad this whole situation...

wage the peace, right... recall their deaths a couple of years from now, when the US will get out of Iraq, like it did from Vietnam. Waging peace is good, but it takes guts the government lacks.

I really hope "Iraqization", the shift of US Forces to Iraqi's own, is completed by next summer. I'm a veteran from the Yugoslavia conflict. I think it's horrible how patrols are continually targetted by ambushes and improvised explosive devices. We'll see how the elections turn out this time around with major sides, the Sunnis and Shiites partcipating.
